The Role

The Business Unit Head, Oncology has full accountability for the strategic, commercial and financial performance of the Oncology portfolio in Italy. The role sets the ambition and direction for the therapy area(s), translates global strategy into local priorities, and delivers sustainable growth through launch excellence, portfolio and lifecycle management, omnichannel customer engagement and strong cross‑functional collaboration. The role also champions a patient-centric approach to transform care pathways and improve outcomes for people.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

• Full P&L responsibility for the Oncology Business Unit, including revenue, profitability, investment decisions and resource allocation.
• Define and implement the long‑term business strategy and annual operating plan for the portfolio, translating strategy into clear priorities, KPIs and governance.
• Lead portfolio and brand strategy across oncology priorities (e.g., lung, prostate and bladder cancers), including positioning, segmentation, omnichannel plans and performance management.
• Drive launch excellence for new products/indications and line extensions: ensure cross‑functional launch readiness, high-quality execution and post‑launch optimisation.
• Shape market access and stakeholder engagement strategies in partnership with Market Access and Medical: develop compelling value propositions to expand timely, equitable access.
• Build and maintain strong external partnerships with key healthcare stakeholders (HCPs, payers, institutions, patient organisations and professional societies) to improve care pathways and outcomes.
• Lead, develop and retain a high‑performing team across marketing and commercial roles; build capabilities in data, analytics, digital/AI-enabled ways of working and inclusive leadership.
• Ensure rigorous forecasting, demand planning inputs and investment ROI discipline; proactively identify risks/opportunities and deploy contingency plans.
• Represent Oncology within the local Leadership Team and with Regional/Global stakeholders; ensure alignment and coherent execution.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, local regulations and ethical standards across all activities.

The Person

Relevant Functional / Technical Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with significant leadership exposure in oncology therapy areas (Lung, prostate and bladder cancer).
• Demonstrated experience leading a commercial organisation or business unit

• Proven track record in portfolio strategy, lifecycle management and best‑in‑class launches.
• Strong understanding of the Italian healthcare environment, market access, pricing and reimbursement dynamics.
• Experience working within a global matrix organisation and partnering across Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Supply, Finance and Corporate Affairs.
• Strong analytical capability (forecasting, KPIs, ROI), and experience driving omnichannel and digital transformation.
• Fluency in English.

Relevant Professional / Educational Background:

• Degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Economics or Business required.
• MBA or advanced business education preferred.
• Continuous professional development in leadership, healthcare systems and/or oncology valued.
