Service Loader: 

  • Role: Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months
  • Location: Barnstaple, Devon
  • Shift: Double Days

    Week 1: Mon-Thurs (06.00-14.00), Fri (06.00-12.00) 

    Week 2: Mon-Thurs (13.45-21.45), Fri (11.45-17.45)

The Role

To maintain the flow of components, packed stock, waste, ancillaries and line change parts to and from the Packing department to ensure Packing operations can run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Manage the movement of materials and associated documentation from Warehouse to Packing.
  • Act as point of contact for warehouse, ensuring necessary paperwork is available; sign-in BPRs and manage any material returns or re-issues.
  • Oversee the Packing department waste stream, maintaining basic housekeeping and cleanliness standards around packing lines, in-line with GMP.
  • Regularly check packing tooling and systems outside of the Packing lines (e.g. purified water) to maintain good condition and correct storage.
  • Manage Packing-related computer systems (e.g. Easy Label, ordering platforms) and maintain user accounts.
  • Actively report damages, near misses and safety observations, providing support for safety concerns and the ordering of safety equipment.
  • Order ancillary components from Warehouse / Suppliers to ensure lines have necessary base materials, pallet cards and pallets available.
  • Conduct occasional Packing floor tours and liaise with the Estates team to support continuous improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Prepare Packing floors for weekend operations, ensuring waste is emptied and materials are in place (e.g. programs, PVCs, BPRs).
  • Manage the movement of large items (e.g. IMA tooling) between Packing and Warehouse and move empty kegs / drums for cleaning.

The Person

  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English. 
  • Well-organised, able to manage multiple tasks to deadline and have a keen eye for detail, even in a fast-paced and changeable environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good awareness of safety, compliance and GMP standards.
  • Basic understanding of Warehouse, Logistics and packaging processes.
  • Easily able to work with technical and numerical information.
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Proactive, professional, reliable and respectful at all times.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
  • Able to work in an enclosed, indoor environment.
