Research Scientist - Bioanalytical - Bioassay

Role: Full-time, permanent

Location: North Harrow, West London

Salary: Competitive + bonus + benefits

The Role

To support our BDL/ Bioassay team with Development of cell based bioassays, ELISA, ADCC, CDC, SPR for Biosimilar products.

Lab maintenance, routine lab related activities, support process development activity.

  • Support, assist to develop/ perform cell based bioassays, ELISA, ADCC, CDC, SPR for Biosimilar products.
  • Conduct data analysis and troubleshooting of technical activities related to Cell- based assay, ADCC, CDC and ELISA.
  • Perform basic mammalian cell culture passaging (Suspension cell line and adherent cell line): revival, subculture and cryopreservation
  • Ensuring the reagent stock maintenance
  • Laise with CFT for sample management for day to day sample analysis
  • Deliver routine lab work, meeting expected quality, safety and success rates.
  • Take ownership of relevant equipment operation, Calibration report compilation and maintenance etc.
  • Adhere to good laboratory practice, including cGMP where applicable.
  • Report results to appropriate audiences (e.g., data summaries, reports).
  • Complete and peer review laboratory documentation accurately (Logbooks, SOP, Protocols, reports).
  • Contribute to routine lab maintenance and stock checking of consumables, media/reagents whenever required.
  • Support in prepare risk assessments and COSSH.

The Person

  • Experience in a similar role within the biopharma / biotech / contract research labs sector with biologics background
  • Competent in development of bioassays (ELISA, Cell based Potency assay) to support the testing of in-house biosimilar products
  • Routine cell culturing to support bioassay testing.
  • Contribute ability to technical procedure, protocol, and reports.
  • Interpret the bioassay results, experiment design with troubleshooting.
  • Routine cell sub-culture, revival, and cryopreservation.
  • Lab maintenance as per GLP/GCP.
  • Method development and validation in accordance with industry standards.
  • Basic understanding of therapeutic antibody / protein quality attributes.
  • Good IT and data analysis skills, including use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken English), confident working with colleagues of all seniority levels and able to navigate cultural differences with ease.
  • Degree / Masters level qualification in a Biological Science or technical scientific discipline.
