The Role
Reporting to the QC Manager you will effectively lead a Quality Control team of analysts in the chemical and physical analysis of samples in line with registered methods and according to the agreed schedule, ensuring that current and future GCLP requirements are met.
- To ensure testing is carried out in accordance to approved procedures and UK/EU/US cGCLP;
- To take ownership and plan daily workloads, ensure appropriate resource and material allocation for the analysis of starting/packaging materials, bulk/finished products, stability samples, trial materials/batches and customer complaint samples to meet the required timelines (as per business stream).
- Scheduling planned preventative maintenance and calibration as appropriate and ensure adherence to the schedule.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the team and other business stakeholders as required. Manage and develop the team, setting goals to support business and department needs.
- To develop and implement QC policies / best practice to support continuous improvements. To maintain compliance of the team ensuring deviations, change control and CAPA are in control.
- To ensure that Health and Safety requirements are met within the QC laboratory.
- To represent relevant business stream regulatory/customer inspections and internal audits and to ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed within agreed timescales.
The Person
- Management experience within Quality Control in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Industry, working to EU/US cGMP and GCLP
- Broad practical experience of principal pharmaceutical laboratory techniques
- Good understanding of Laboratory computer systems and data integrity requirements
- An understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, out of Specification MHRA, EU and US FDA requirements
- Able to analyse data and reports in order to make decisions
- Need to be pro-active, well organised and methodical and able to work under own initiative
- Able to provide direct support during regulatory inspections e.g. MHRA and FDA and customer audits
- HNC/HND in a Science Discipline.
