The Role
We’re seeking a dynamic and strategic National Channel Manager to join our Commercial team to achieve the objectives within a given client group / national channel; this will include developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders, identifying opportunities for business development and continually assessing account strategies and promotional programmes in-line with business and market activity – all whilst delivering an excellent level of customer service and resolving any issues swiftly. Working closely with an assigned National Account, you’ll optimise their portfolio mix (usually c. 200 SKUs), respond to market dependencies (e.g. alternative supplier out of stock situations) support new product launches and identify opportunities to drive business forwards (e.g. cross-selling products from our c. 1,000 SKU portfolio, offering own label supply services). Working closely with your customers (in-person and remote), you’ll build a comprehensive understanding of their business and share updates of our own in order to respond to any market volatility or supply / demand situations, whilst ensuring your customers reach their agreed targets via a key account management plan. Internally, you’ll work closely with a range of departments across the business (Supply, Demand, Customer Service, Marketing, Business Information) to ensure your market and business knowledge remain current for your customers, and to report in any market intelligence to share learnings across the team and monitor trends. You’ll also act as departmental representative at key internal meetings to provide market feedback and input to key strategic initiatives, such as pricing, marketing or launch discussions.
The Person
- Previous experience in a National Channel Management role (or Key Account Management experience, ready to take the step-up) within the Healthcare market (generics, brand or OTC).
- Strong business acumen and commercial judgment, with excellent market knowledge and an understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and supply chain processes.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), able to navigate cultural differences and use influencing, negotiation and persuasion skills to gain the best outcomes.
- Well organised, able to manage multiple actions to meet deadlines, anticipate potential issues and think on your feet to solve problems, even in a busy and changeable work environment.
- Good analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Positive team player, but equally comfortable working on own initiative.
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant business subject would be beneficial, but not essential.
- ABPI qualification preferable, or a clear interest to work towards certification.
