Mechanical Engineer x 2

Role: Full time, Permanent

Location: Fawdon, Newcastle upon Tyne

The Role

Due to continued expansion we require two additional Mechanical Engineers. Reporting to the Site Facilities Engineer, you will assist the continued operation of the site by confirming all facilities equipment is mechanically safe and fully maintained, whilst ensuring that all work is performed in full compliance with GMP, SOPs, FDA, MHRA, work instructions and relevant safety standards.

  • To ensure and achieve a target of 100% completion of PMIs issued by Engineering Dept. To communicate any issues that have prevented completion or achieving target.
  • Take ownership of appropriate follow up to actions identified and to close off outstanding work in a timely manner. Achieve this by escalation of outstanding issues not closed, ensure spares are ordered, checking stock and planning of remedial work with Site Facilities Engineer.
  • Respond to any emergency breakdowns whilst on site.
  • After probation is part of an emergency callout register entailing one week in four on call.
  • Actively seek to identify improvement projects across site.
  • Completion of 5-WHYS for all breakdowns over the agreed time duration and timely completion of 5-WHY input.
  • Undertake regular plant walks to identify any ongoing issues that may not have been raised by production. i.e. unusual noises, smells, visual checks across all areas.
  • Ensure standard of organization and cleanliness is maintained in working areas and other areas of engineering responsibility.

 

The Person

  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, cGDP would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Desirable – Compex 11
  • Has up to date knowledge of regulatory, legal and HSE requirements relevant to their function
